Oil painting
Inspired by the living, the work of visual artist Flavie Leh is intimately linked to the articulation between the mastery of contemporary and ancient techniques, and influenced by her training as a weaving artist at the Manufacture Nationale des Gobelins.
His pictorial work and his artistic research do not escape this influence.
Who would find in his almost monochromatic abstract paintings, sometimes large format, a trace of medieval techniques?
Yet this is what Flavie Leh wanted to experience through the series "from illumination to abstraction..."

"From illumination to abstraction..."
" The series of abstract oil paintings "From Illumination to Abstraction..." constitutes a graphic and pictorial experimentation in which she pushes this alliance between tradition and modernity to its peak. Inspired by her practice of illumination but taking the opposite of its traditional use, his monochrome canvases challenge and encourage us to contemplate beyond: how the light catches the gold leaf and the color, how the two respond to each other in a constantly renewed dialogue, how they plunge the spectator into a peaceful and delicate atmosphere in which rests, serene, "the soul of things" .
Oil paints and silver leaf
In these paintings, the artist used silver leaf instead of gold leaf. These oxidize over time and take on a weathered appearance.
